The NEBRASKAland Foundation presented the Woods family of Lincoln with the Distinguished NEBRASKAlander Award at the Statehood Day dinner Feb. 28 at the State Capitol.

The NEBRASKAlander Award is given for service to the state’s social, historical, cultural or economic well-being, according to the office of the Nebraska Secretary of State John Gale, who serves on the Foundation board and helps host the dinner.

“For seven generations since 1873, the family of Frederick M. Woods has played a prominent role in the business, community and cultural development in Lincoln and the state,” a release states. “Their business enterprises have included horse importing, airplane manufacturing, telephone service, and residential and commercial real estate. The family’s Woods Charitable Fund has had a significant philanthropic impact through $40 million in grants.”

Woods Bros Realty Chairman Emeritus F. Pace Woods II attended the dinner, during which Gov. Dave Heineman presented the family with a crystal bowl.
